#BoardGames, #Education, #KnightsOfHealth
In addition to being in love with board games, we are also in love with fruits and vegetables. This love is so strong that we created the board game "Knights of Health" that promotes healthy eating. With a series of articles, we would like to explain in a little more detail why our knights are good for human health. We will start with the queen of fruits - the apple.
We believe that you have all heard the proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." The apple is one of those "ordinary" fruits that are always there, within reach, that we don't even notice. Just walk into your or your grandmother's garden and there is a high probability that there is at least one apple tree. The benefits of apples have been known since ancient times. This fruit is a basic weapon against various viruses and bacteria.
Our knight is presented with three most significant characteristics:
- Energy - Fructose and glucose provide the body with energy that prevents fatigue and reduced concentration. If you are a student and you have a test or an answer coming up, eat an apple during your break and you will see how the apple turns you into a superhero. Unfortunately, this doesn't work if you haven't studied and prepared. ;)
- Heart - Apple is rich in pectin that blocks the deposition of bad cholesterol in the intestines and encourages the body to use, instead of storing, waxy substances. Its peel is rich in polyphenols, a powerful antioxidant that prevents cell damage from free radicals.
- Stress - In parallel with giving energy, the apple reduces the level of stress, relieves irritability and lifts the mood.
Of course, the apple has much more positive effects on our body than we have listed on our knight's card. But the concept of the card is such that it is possible to list only three benefits. It would not be wrong if we decided to go with different effects such as digestion, immunity and vitamins.
There are over 7,000 varieties of apples in the world and we will probably never meet most of them, but that is not so important because these available varieties are just as healthy. If you are able, always choose a local, unsprayed apple, even if it is not beautiful in appearance compared to the imported and "perfect" ones that can be found in stores. Grandma's apple is definitely healthier and sweeter! :) And don't forget, the apple came out of heaven. ;)
